The Ready State helps everyday athletes enjoy better movement, agility, and strength — with less pain and more protection against injury, especially as they get older.
Our work with elite athletes serves as the proving grounds for our methods. Most people don’t play professional sports. But if our methods help athletes at the highest levels, they can work for anyone.
You are doing work, however not seeing lasting change.
Have you thought about taking a different approach?
Pro Episode # 21 – Pro-User Request Friday: Not Seeing The Change? You Need a Systems Approach.
Jon,
I would have someone videotape you running straight on and from the side so you can see if something with your technique could be contributing to the situation. Have you identified the cause of your ITB? Addressing the cause is key so the situation resolves and doesn’t return.
Have you done a search on the Virtual Mobility Coach Archive?
There are several episodes. Have you watched running episodes?
There are a few ways to get started.
Paul,
Are you working up/downstream of where you are seeing the issue?
Is what you are addressing the root cause of the situation or a symptom of the situation?
Kaitlin
Is there a coach or someone who could take a look at it for you?
The noise alone isn’t a problem.
Here is an episode to check out:
Episode 318: Knee Pain On Stairs or Hills
Hey Pat,
It could be a combination.
The first thing is to get started. It may not be exactly where to start, however, doing something is better than doing nothing so don’t be overwhelmed if you aren’t sure where to start.
Kelly touched on this during the August AMA.
It is around the 9:00 mark
It is a hip flexion position.
Are you working with hip flexion?
There are several episodes on the Virtual Mobility Coach archive that address aspects of hip flexion.
Working on the squat archetype is beneficial here. There is the 14 day squat mobility challenge. Think about completing that programming.
Are you addressing external rotation?
Check out the pigeon episodes or the pigeon game.
Frog and super frog will help.
Are you spending time in the lotus position?
Spend time there to the best of your ability.
Some places to get started.
Let us know how things are progressing with it.
Hey Nathan,
How is your progress?
Take a crack at finding more on the subject.
Here are some things Kelly has added to the conversation about these items.
Using a Percussion Gun? Add Movement To It
TimTam Power Massager – Kelly Starrett, How-To Work Through Muscle Stiffness
Painful Area? Percussion First Aid
Where are you experiencing limitations when trying to do this?
Have you done a search on the Virtual Mobility Coach archive to start addressing those areas?
What are you doing to address this situation?
Hi Pete,
There are no referral codes.
Please have anyone interested visit the Virtual Mobility Coach free trial page to get signed up/registered.
Did you read or hear something somewhere about this?
If so where?
Hi Nathan,
Bummer to hear of the pain you are experiencing.
You can experience more pain following a session because you are starting to correct and/or change something.
You may be moving through new ranges or using muscles& soft tissue which has not been used in the past to complete a movement.
Is it pain or soreness?
Are you working up/downstream of where you are experiencing the pain?
Where the pain is isn’t always where it originates.
Have you used a voodoo band on the elbow and shoulder?
I’d suggest visiting the elbow section on the pain section of the VMC.
Doing a search on the archive of the VCM will give you many options as well.
You can search delt and trap on the archive.
Have you completed The Ready State Assessments for the upper body?
This can help direct what needs attention.
Scroll to the second row, second video block, click and start.
Taking the quiz to get your mobility score can help direct you on what to address.
If the issue is in the Overhead position have you completed the Overhead Challenge programming?
Does this help?
Hi Zach,
Great to hear your situation is improving.
Yes, this is the place to ask questions and get other people’s thoughts.
From the main forum page in the upper right you can search for other posts/threads addressing the topic.
Keep working through it.
Hi John,
The study is posted within the show notes.
23:08 ” “Do you have any suggestions on how to recover faster as one age?
RESOURCES MENTIONED: EC Synkowski; Master Athlete Study (Chapter 15) https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/book/10.1002/9781444324822
The only problem is that you have to pay to read the actual study. And it’s not cheap.
Have you watched any of the episodes that address warm-up in the archive?
Does thing answer your question?
Kaitlin
Hi Zach,
Since you have been experiencing this for a few months have you thought about getting more help?
Is there a TRS Coach in your area or another coach who has knowledge of this?
Is there a PT at your gym or at a gym in your area?
Ask other members at your gym for recommendations.
What have you done and seen improvements?
What have you done and not seen improvements?
Are you taking a systems approach to this situation?
John,
What was the question did you submitted for the AMA?
Unfortunately, it isn’t possible to get to every single question that is submitted.
How are you defining optimal shape?
Context on this will help with a better answer to your question.
Hi Charles,
I’d have someone take a look at it.
A walk-in may be able to help. You’ve had it for a couple of weeks and it doesn’t sound like it is improving.
No discomfort or pain isn’t a reason to wait. Pain and discomfort are the last things to show up.
You may need an antibiotic to clear it up.
