My left shoulder is generally a bit of a mess.  Any overhead movement causes issues so just trying to work through some fixes for it.

One of the things I’ve been doing is the banded overhead distraction which gives a pretty immediate intense pull in my posterior shoulder area.
I’ve tried this 3 times now and every time after about 1-2 mins my posterior should area is pretty much totally numb.  I’ve persevered with it on the basis that there is clearly something wrong so stretching and rolling that area seems like a good idea but perhaps it’s not?
Wondered if I could get some guidance on a) whether I should even continue doing it if the numbness keeps happening and, b) any ideas as to why the numbness is occurring?
      Thanks very much.

If something feels sketchy (i.e. numbness) it is sketchy and you should not continue to do it.
Yes, this is an area which needs attention and may require seeing a practitioner to identify exactly what is going on.
Numbness is most often caused by damage, irritation or compression of nerves. Identifying what is causing the numbness is key so it can be corrected.

Is there a coach who can look at your positioning, placement of the band etc. when doing the banded overhead distraction?

Thanks for the response Kaitlin.  I’ll see if there is a practiotioner nearby.
