Hello all. I went to a physical therapist recently about my ankle dorsiflexion issue and he said that I had really stiff feet, not so much ankles. He explained this may be a cause of why I don’t have as much ankle dorsiflexion, but of course my ankles are stiff as well. I’ve watched roop and Jamis Foot and ankle adventures but not of the things mentioned seemed to help. Not able to continue seeing the PT here as I’ll be leaving the country soon. Are there any suggestions that anyone can think of? Thanks!

Yes, there are more aspects than just the ankle which can limit ankle dorsi flexion.
System of systems.
What did the PT say about addressing your feet?
Any recommendations?Have you voodoo wrapped your ankle, wrapped your foot?
Used a gemini or lacrosse ball on your foot?

He told me to place a lacrosse ball under my foot and roll around on it and then grab a band, hook it on a bar or something and place it around my calf, and drive my knee forward towards the bar/wall. I have been doing this pretty religiously and no change.
I have voodoo wrapped my ankles, calves, knees, quads/hammies, and hips. made some change and then goes away. I’ve also added a band to each of these movements to add some distraction. For the shin, I have placed a lacrosse ball on my anterior tib. for a few minutes each side. Helps some.My shoulders are just super tight. I have not really been focusing on them at all, been trying to get in a good squat position and focus on one thing.Thank you for the links! I’ll watch them and get some ideas! :d -

Making lasting change can require continuous in the beginning.
Need to look at the whole systemLittle more to it than roll around on a lacrosse ball. That is a start.

If dorsi flexion is missing the athlete is less able to fire their glute. If you are doing work and not seeing lasting change time to take a new look at the situation.
Need to take a system approach its not only the ankle or only the foot.
