I have had Tennis elbow for about 2 weeks now.  I assume I got it from working out and doing Crossfit.  I have watched KStarr’s vids on elbows, and have flossed it w/ Voodoo 5 or 6 times.  It is not getting any better.  Should flossing it 5 or 6 times make it better already?  Has anyone had any success with anything else? What should I do?

if the problem got into your elbow tendons and joints, then it can take a long time to heal because tendons and joints don’t get nearly as much blood flow as muscles.

i got a major elbow problem that started with forearm extensor soreness via bad form on KB swings. it started there but i kept training and then the stress moved into the elbow joints/tendons itself and the pain persisted for months. i diagnosed it finally as a tricep activation problem where i was not able to maintain tricep contraction to keep the arm fully straight, and i was hinging at the wrong time before the arm contacted the body where the body itself can help absorb force.  resting it for a week at a time didn’t do anything and neither did voodoo flossing or smashing the forearms or tricep.  i fixed the form but it was too late to solve the problem.
finally i found a Pulsed Electromagnetic Field device called the Alleva-Wave (http://www.allevawave.com). I used it for 3 weeks straight every day, for many hours a day. By mid week of the first week, the pain had lessened considerably. By week 3, the problem was gone.

Or you can just rest up and stop hitting it with workouts. In either case, there is probably something wrong with your form on 1 or more exercises and you’d probably want to fix that too or else you’ll keep having problems.

Thanks for the info David…I can’t see my self buying a $900.00 machine like the Allevawave. .  I will keep trying massage and flossing to see if it gets any better.

      TeamJackson,

Start at the shoulder first for most elbow issues. Check out these two videos. Good luck.

      Hey TeamJackson,

Don’t forget to get after those forearms too, high up by the elbow. You can hit this stuff with a lacross ball (against the wall works well), or flop down on your belly and use the head of an Oly bar to steamroll that forearm meat. I’ve had a bunch of people approach me at our gym about tennis/golf/whatever elbow recently, and clearing up the forearm has delivered considerable relief for them.
Hopefully you’ll experience the same. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I rolled my forearms and wow was it nasty near my elbow. Also my lower tricep near my elbow is nasty also. Hopefully if i stick with it then my elbow pain will go away.
