Hi guys. I need some help with my friend. We both play soccer and have done so for most of our lives. He is 25 years old and his hips are a MESS! He has zero internal rotation in his hips and I mean ZERO! He walks like a duck all the time and runs as well. Both his legs are bad and he gets stabbing pain when he tries to rotate them internally and it even hurts just trying to keep his feet straight.
I have been looking for mobility exercises that address internal rotation for the hips and legs but I´m not finding a lot. What is the best plan of action for this severe type of duck feet? I have never seen someone who struggles with keeping their legs straight while standing… -

try these to start:
there are a ton of videos out there. do you have a PRO account? some more behind the paywall.also i would not rule out resetting the femurs to the rear of the hip joints, using banded distractions, and also examining his external rotation. smash also the adductors on the insides of the legs, check hams, quads, glutes, TFL. -

Thank you for that, I will show him these. Yes I am a pro user and there is a lot of great info on this site and has really opened up my eyes!
I got a hold of one of his x-rays but I am not good at reading into them, can you see anything looking at the hips in this picture? Do you see any bone spurs for example? -

I am not an expert at looking xrays so can’t help you there. however, if that is his front view, i would say that his left pelvis is higher than his right. if you lay him down and pull his legs straight, i bet his legs are of different lengths. give that a look. however, i would first test the assumption that it is fixable and not a structural problem.
I would try resetting his pelvis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INBY84sqrR0I would reset pelvis before any athletic activity and then do it again afterwards. if possible, i would do it every night before sleeping – pretty easy to do in bed. -

Thanks for these suggestions. Another question, our goalkeeper is unable to lock out his knees or his elbows, I’m not talking about hyperflexion but the opposite! His elbows and knees are just stuck in a bent position… Is it arthritis or is this treatable with stretching and smashing??

For your friend with the hip, he has a CAM hip. Look for that, Kelly talks about tha in some of his videos about internal rotation (he is talking about mushrooms when talking abou it i think 😉 ) = hip impingment !!.
He really need to work with distraction!!!! always, try to get as much of mobility as you can and work on evrything around it like David was saying. Definatly work on glutes and posterior capsule of the hip !!!!
Work on i but be gentle , listen to the body, cuz his cam is here and he can dameg his capsule/labrum when he overdoes!!!!
Greetings from belgium

I’m looking for videos in pro daily rx for this hip issue but it’s very hard to search.
