Hello all,
For the past few months I’ve noticed there is a thud/dull popping noise in my right hip capsule area when I transition from a hip full flexion position to full extension (i.e. fire hydrant circles from DeFranco’s agile 8).I’ve been told it’s probably a tight iliopsoas and never worried too much about it until today, when I started feeling some pain in the area and around the lower abdominals.I’ve been voodoo-ing the hamstring and focusing on the medial chain. Just wondering if I am on the right track, or is there something else I should be focusing on?Thanks in advance!Eric -

Eric–
Are you seeing improvements with voodoo flossing?
It sounds like you reached the breaking point with it where the pain showed up.
You reached your body’s tolerance point and now its game over from the pain. -

Hi Kaitlin,
Thanks for the comments, there is noticably less pain today. Now I think I just tweaked my right hip flexor, and it’s gotten better today.
I still feel the tendon snapping when I do the fire hydrant circles. Are there specific movements to remedy that?

Eric–
Great to hear of the improvements in your situation.
Your hip may be in the front of the socket.
Make larger circles so you are using the full rom.

I’ve used the pre-squat hip opener before, and will definitely incorporate it back into my mobilization.
Re; Ep 347: If the hip is in the front of the socket, should I be facing away from the pole instead of towards it? -

Hi Kaitlin, thank you so much for posting the aforementioned videos. Having tried the suggested videos, the pain subsided back in November, but I am still having some issues with the iliopsoas snapping over the femur.
For the pelvic reset, I find that squeezing the medicine ball between my legs causes my right hip socket to click. Is it possible that the right femur has been pulled laterally? Would a medial distraction or manipulation help in this situation? Thanks in advance! -

Good to hear you are seeing improvements with your situation.
I’d recommend seeing someone about it.
This is not a new situation you are dealing with.
As one thing is addressed another is showing up which means the cause of the situation is not getting addressed.
You can chase symptoms for a long time, but the cause needs to be identified to resolve the situation. -

Thanks for the feedback Kaitlin!
