Alot on the best shoe to wear is going to be what fits the best for the person.
You want to look for
Small if any difference heel to toe.
I like the Inov-8 shoes. You can chose a shoe based on the drop you want. for example, I’ve bouth these ones for my gym work when squatting, deadlifting etc…

My personal favorite are Merrells Bare and Barefoot series. They are zero drop so very flat. You can also choose a thicker sole if you like cushioning. Come in a variety of styles and colors.
Check out birthdayshoes.com They have hundreds of shoe reviews and links to all the sites you can buy them at.
Zemgear is the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever worn for walking or working out. I’d get the 2Cinch for all purpose walking to crossfit. For just casual walking/running use the 365’s are great.
I’ll tell you what. I can’t create a lot of torque with the nano 3.0’s. The grip kinda sucks and they may be a little too wide.
I have Inov8 f-lite 230 for Crossfit, Saucony 4mm drop for trail running and Merrell minimalist for everyday. The Inov8 and Saucony don’t really have a wide toe box but still fit my foot just fine. The Merrell does have a wider toe box and my toes do have more room but I don’t run in these though so I can’t say for sure if they would be a good running choice. I love the Merrells for everyday though. I hear really good things about Altra’s too. They have a wide toe box and seem to be good all around for Crossfit and running. If you are trying to find something comparable to your NB then I would go with Merrell or Altra, IMO.
I think the original is https://us.vibram.com/shop/fivefingers/.
I switched from 100% Hoka to 100% Altra – because of unique toe box design and zero-drop features.
