Hey all, having back pain for a few days that gets exacerbated while sitting. I have a desk job and I do my best to set and reset my sitting posture as often as I can by following Starrett’s advice. I am able to stay active and not be pinned to my desk, so I can get walk around and stay active, which alleviates the pain. I also work out in the evenings and that doesn’t seem to make the pain worse either.

As far as mobility wods, I’ve been doing a lot of couch stretching with high quad smashing, similar to the 10/26 – 10/27/2017 daily MWODs. Is there anything else you all would recommend I work on? It seems like the location of the pain is in the L5/S1 area, and while it’s not debilitating pain, I don’t want it to get worse.
      Thanks!

I don’t know, I suspect it was from the long weekend, I had to log more hours than usual at the desk and I sort of got glued in place.

The mobility work that I’m doing is more reactive than proactive. I’m hoping that working on my mobility more that it’ll swing to the latter and I won’t have this issue any longer.

The weekend with longer hours sitting is the straw that broke the camel’s back. The cumulative effect of sitting within the weekend, each day, week etc.
I’d recommend optimizing your sitting position, chair, position when on the phone or computer.
      All the details impact.
You can buffer anything until you can’t. No warning you just aren’t able to do it any longer.
Check out Deskbound if you haven’t and the episodes above. All have actionable things you can start incorporating immediately.
Transitioning to a movement station helps when you aren’t able to leave your desk you can still be changing positions etc.

Make sure your training also has plenty of movement into all the end ranges of the body during the warm up and that it has carries, single arm carries, side planks, regular planks, and stir the pot (look it up from Stu McGill). You can’t just mobilize and expect it to go away and or go away and never come back.

      Thanks Kaitlyn
I’m able to open these links but strangely don’t see any videos on the page. I see a picture and description of the video. I’m able to view other videos on the site. I’m using Chrome browser on an Android one plus 7 phone if that makes a difference?
