After reading Deskbound and watching numerous MWoD videos, I know that traditional flip flops are one of many modern enemies of our overall mobilization and health. Does this apply to all sandals? I have never liked having something between my toes, so traditional flip flops were never my thing. I do love wearing the slides version. Will the slides have the same negative impact as flip flops?

As far as I understand, the issue with flip flops is that we have to grip with our toes to hold them on – that would hold true for a slide as well – there needs to be some sort of strap or something more around the heel/ankle to hold it in so your toes aren’t doing it.

Slides have the same negative effects. Go to any junior high and notice the collapsed and crappy feet and altered mechanics of all the kids with slides on.
A great way to combat some of the foot issues is heavy kb swings while barefoot. When done properly the force generated will make you create a strong and stable foot positions.Travis JewettMWOD Staff -

Wow. Thanks for all the quick and great feedback. I will miss my slides, but probably just until I find a comfortable alternative. Another excuse to do heavy KB swings … yeah!!!!

Hey Eric! I too love my slides due to the easiness and confortabiltiy of them. An alternative I’ve thought of (disclaimer I haven’t done it yet, but plan to) are to buy slip on vans. I find vans extremely comfortable and as Kelly has talked about before they are a good casual shoe due to the flatness of them and the absence of a raised heels. I feel the slip on slide are just as easy to put on, go with a bunch of stuff, and the best alternative for your feet. They are also around 45 a won’t break the bank. Hope this may help.

Vans are the best. I have a couple pair and do everything in them except run.
