I play a lot of tennis and have been dealing with very painful calf muscles. What is a good pre and post stretch that will help with the strain and recovery..
Are your heels touching the ground when you are playing?
If not your calf is always activated which is causing the issue.
Are you warming up/cooling down enough?

I have been doing the global spin ups and targeted mobility exercises here. Yesterday I used a new carbon plated basketball shoe for the first time and went all out in the game. I noticed that the shoe was quite stiff and it did not allow me to have a good range of movement for my foot. It led to straining my left calf. DO i avoid RICE and just do all the calf focused exercises? Its still painful up to today

I would avoid ice.
Working up and downstream of where you are seeing the issue will help.
Wearing the shoes around for short periods will help break them in.
