Daily Mobility Exercises by Dr. Kelly Starrett › Forums › General › Alternative to Barbell?
I’ve just joined this week and am really hoping to start using the Daily RX’s to work on my flexibility. I belong to a box, but only go a few days a week. I was hoping to do the mobility wod’s at home every day. This means I don’t have access to a lot of equipment. Over the last three days, the wod’s have used barbells twice. Is there something else I can use to do those exercises? I have a lacrosse ball and a foam roller. I’m willing to buy more things, but don’t know if a barbell is in the budget right now.
You may be able to find a used bar on Craig’s list or at a Play It Again Sports.
A dumbbell may be an option.
You could do the MWods requiring a barbell days that you are at the box and do MWods that don’t require a barbell on days that you are at home. The episodes page has tons of options and all the episodes from day 1 of the MWod.
You could also get some PVC pipe for at home. They make them in the relative diameter of a barbell to give some what the same feel. Cheaper and allows you to get the work done at home.
Thanks, these are good suggestions. I can definitely get pvc and will keep an eye out for a barbell.
