Yes it sounds like it might a SLAP tear labrum injury. I would get an MRI and see what that says.

Well I am the recipient of a SLAP repair on my shoulder almost 7 months ago. I waited a year and a half to go ahead with the surgery. I elected to have the surgery when I could not sleep anymore due to the pain.

However the surgery is no quick fix. I can’t say that I feel remarkably better than before the surgery. Really your looking at a year for full recovery. I am fit 33 year old male btw. If you can manage in by strengthening no need to rush in to the surgery. The surgery itself if quite easy. I was nervous for it but it was a piece of cake. My two cents would be to get the surgery now before the pain develops which it may. The surgery is good for providing extra stability but not so much for the pain.
