DAY 1: Baseline. Great round of shoulder swings that immediately feels great and very needed. Is it normal to feel/hear some crackle on the Phelps swing? This was the one swing where I lack significant mobility, and actually felt some pain.

Great to hear you started the 14 day challenge.
      Has the ever happened before?
Crepitus (creaking, cracking, grating, crunching, or popping that occurs when moving a joint) without other symptoms is ok usually is not a cause for concern.
Many people’s joints crack or pop occasionally, and that is considered normal.
Air bubbles popping inside the joint could be happening.
You mentioned lacking significant mobility when doing the Phelps this may be coming into play.
Keep an eye on it as you are working on your overhead mobility.
Note better, same, worse as you do it.

Thanks Kaitlin! This is very helpful. I’m not in general pain, and loosening shoulders up a bit is onne of my goals for the next two weeks. The first video was excellent, and gives me some tools to use regularly.

Not to hijack but found day 3 made an unbelievable difference for me. 1,2 and now 4 are all about the same at test and retest, thumbs maybe 2 inches away from ground. From day 3 though (I can only manage 3 minutes, it’s agony) I can get my thumbs to ground and push, which for me is absolutely amazing!

Thanks Kaitlin, these Waterman videos are excellent, I esp like the hip flexion. I didn’t even know these were on the sight, there’s so much information!
